Convert Btrieve Files to CodeBase Files

If you want to convert multiple Btrieve files to DBF (CodeBase) you can use the program WTASCONVERT.RWN. To execute the program click on the Run button and choose the program or enter the program name.

MAIN SCREEN

When you first execute this program the following screen is displayed:

Click on the Choose Files button and a standard dual list box will be displayed. All of the files that are in your data dictionary that have a type of T or B will be displayed in the left hand list:

You must choose the files you want to convert. You can choose all the files by clicking on the button. Or, click on a file and then click the button. Each time you click on either button, all files or a single file will move to the Convert to DBF list. Only the files in the Convert to DBF list will be converted. You can move chosen files back to the Btrieve Files list by clicking (a single chosen file) or (all files in the Convert to DBF list).

Once you have chosen all the appropriate files click on the OK button. Click on the Cancel button to exit the process.

When you return to the main screen, if you have chosen files to convert, the Convert button will now be enabled. Click on that to start the process.

For each file that is converted the name will appear in the entry field above the buttons and a separate form will be displayed showing the progress. When the process is done the program will exit.

COMMENTS

If the conversion doesn't work you should try the following:

1. Run DBF_FLDS.RWN again. The Short Field Name length + Maximum Width of Array Fields cannot exceed 10 characters. So, if you have an array of 50 the length of the Short Field Name should be 8 characters or less. If this is not the case running DBF_FLDS.RWN again (if you have the current version) should take care of this problem.

2. Load the FD in WTASDMGR (Maintain Data Dictionary) and save it again. This will update the position counters in FILEDBF.
