This command will get or set the two letter extension on files to be used as company codes (e.g., for use with Computer Accounting Solutions' accounting products).

CO f/c/eRequired - The new three letter extension.  If this is a GET operation then this must be a fieldname or variable field (fn/v).

what_to_doGET - The program will get the current company code value and put it into the co_code field.

SET - The program will set the company code default value to that in co_code (this is the default option).

COMMENTS

Accounting software products written in TAS Professional can handle multiple companies, and use a three character extension on files to indicate different companies' data.  For example, the master inventory file for company #57 might be BKICMSTR.B57.

Once you set this value it is used as the extension for all TAS files opened unless otherwise overridden.

NOTE:  You should have a set of records in FILELOC.C with the proper company code value for each company you have active.  For more information about this topic, please refer to Main Menu - Utilities.

NOTE:  In FILELOC.C all files have extensions of either B+the company code (for Btrieve files) or C+company code (for CodeBase files).  You can specify the two characters that make up the company code with this command.  You can also set the beginning company in the Set Configuration program.    If you are using the Pervasive file manager (Btrieve) then the files will actually have the extension of B+company code.  If you are using CodeBase the files have set extensions (DBF, DBT & MDX) but we use the C+company code in FILELOC.C to keep track of the different companies.  Also, since the CodeBase files have the save extension, you must put each set of company files, if any CodeBase files are involved, in its own subdirectory.
